We use a 3 Shape E Scanner which allows all-ceramic restorations to be milled, and where metal is the choice of material, metal frameworks are laser melted as opposed to the āold fashionedā way of conventional casting methods using the lost wax technique.
This digital technique, whether it be for all-ceramic or metal based frameworks, provides stronger support with exceptional margins and accurate fit to every crown and bridge restoration fabricated within the lab.
With the addition of our new 3 Shape Scanner, our all-ceramic or metal frameworks offer the most comfortable and accurate fitting restoration for each patient.
We are Trios ready so if you prefer to send digital scans please get in touch to set up via 3Shape Communicate: info@onguarddental.co.uk
If you are an Itero user send your scans to our Itero portal or alternatively, send the STL files to info@onguarddental.co.uk
At On Guard Dental Laboratory, we use theĀ Dreve Drufomat ScanĀ thermoforming machineāwidely regarded as one of the most advanced and reliable units available today. It features cutting-edgeĀ material recognition softwareĀ to ensure consistent, high-quality results with every application.
We offerĀ four main types of mouthguards, each custom-made and tailored to the individual needs of the patient based on theirĀ sport or activity. All mouthguards are fabricated usingĀ Dreve EVA (ethyl vinyl acetate) thermoforming blanks, available in a wide range of colours for a personalized finish.
Included as standard with every mouthguard:
Recommended for children up to the age of 14, junior mouthguards are dual laminated using a 3mm colour EVA blank and a 2mm clear EVA blank. These junior mouthguards are custom made for non-contact sports such as touch rugby, and where a helmet is worn such as skateboarding.
For adults participating in sports such as basketball, skateboarding, American football, motor racing and motor cross where a hard stick or hard ball is not encountered. āSeniorā mouthguards are also dual laminated, but with a 3mm base colour and a 3mm clear EVA blank.
Recommended for contact sports such as boxing, martial arts and water polo, these have a 3mm EVA lamination over the anterior region of the teeth for extra protection with a further 3mm colour and 3mm clear EVA lamination blank. The āEliteā mouthguard can also be modified for under 14 year-olds participating in these sports.
For those who may encounter a hard stick or hard ball such as hockey, lacrosse or polo, as well as for rugby players, the āProfessionalā mouthguard is recommended. A 3mm EVA base colour blank is used, then a 2mm Biolon thermoforming blank made from polyethylene is laminated over the anterior region of the teeth, followed by a 3mm clear EVA thermoforming blank. This mouthguard can also be adapted for under 14-year-oldās participating in these sports.
OurĀ custom-made Essix retainersĀ are fabricated using a durableĀ 1mm thick thermoforming material, ensuring a secure fit and long-lasting performance. Retainers can be produced with eitherĀ scalloped or non-scallopedĀ margins, depending on clinician preference. Scalloped retainers are trimmed to follow the gingival contour for added comfort and aesthetics.
Our nightguards are fabricated usingĀ 2.5mm EVA Erkoflex 95 blanks, known for their durability and resistance to abrasion. This material offers more body and strength than many alternatives, making it ideal for patients withĀ mild to moderate bruxism. Alternative thicknesses are available upon request to meet individual clinical needs.
Also known asĀ hard/soft nightguards, our dual laminate nightguards are made fromĀ 3mm blanksĀ that feature a soft inner liner for comfort and a hard outer surface for durability. This combination is especially effective forĀ moderate to severe bruxist patients, providing both comfort and long-lasting wear.
We use aĀ 1mm EVA bleaching tray material, chosen for its superb accuracy and definition after thermoforming. This material ensures excellent adaptation and clearly defined margins for a comfortable and precise fit.
Unless otherwise requested, all bleaching trays are fabricated withĀ buccal reservoirsĀ placed over the teeth and areĀ scalloped to follow the gingival contours, ensuring optimal contact and patient comfort during whitening treatments.
For ourĀ porcelain-fused-to-metal (PFM) restorations, we use theĀ GC Initial ceramic system. This advanced system offers a full range of carefully harmonised porcelain and enamel shades, designed to deliver outstanding aesthetics for restorations built on a metal substructure.
We also utilise the 3Shape E Scanner, which allows us to digitally design and fabricate crown and bridge frameworks throughĀ laser meltingĀ technology. This modern method replaces traditional lost-wax casting, offering superior strength, precise margins, and an accurate fit for every restoration produced in our laboratory.
We offerĀ AtlantisĀ® Custom Abutments, compatible with most major implant systems. OurĀ All-in-One implant restorationsĀ come at a single, all-inclusive priceāensuring no components are ordered on your account.
Alternatively,Ā genuine stock manufacturer componentsĀ can be ordered through the surgeonās account or supplied directly by the surgeon, depending on your preferred workflow.
Lithium Disilicate,Ā commonly known by the brand nameĀ Emax, is a highly aesthetic glass ceramic, ideal for creating crowns, veneers, inlays, and onlays. As a versatile alternative to zirconia, it offers excellent translucency and a natural appearanceāmaking it a preferred choice for anterior restorations.
This material can be used to produce full-contour crowns that are stained and glazed for a lifelike finish, or cut back to allow for detailed layering with IPS e.max Ceram. Its adaptability and visual appeal make Lithium Disilicate an essential option in modern restorative dentistry.
Thanks to major advancements in dental ceramic materials, we are able to offer some of the strongest and most natural-looking options for fabricating restorations. Your patients will notice and appreciate the lifelike appearance and feel of their aesthetic dental restorations, made possible by our use of highly advanced materials.
Monolithic Full Zirconia CrownsĀ have surged in popularity due to their exceptional strength and improved translucency, making them an excellent alternative to lithium disilicate for full-contour crowns, inlays, and onlays. Today, zirconia is the most widely used material in our laboratory, helping clients consistently meet their aesthetic goals and patient expectations.
As a leading material at the forefront of dental technology,Ā Zirconium Oxideācommonly known as zirconiaāis remarkably strong, biocompatible, and highly aesthetic. It is an ideal choice for single crowns as well as multiple-span bridges, offering both reliability and visual appeal.
